e-Learning is a umbrella term given to the use of technoloy, PC, laptop or even PDA, to deliver self-paced, hands-on learning ... anytime, anywhere.
Typically it includes text, graphics, animations, audio and video and sometimes even virtual environments to explain and illustrate concepts, processes and prodcedures.
But e-Learning can include all these elements and still suffer many of the pitfalls as traditional classroom learning. It can boring, with irrelevant graphics, monotonous voice overs and little or no opportunity for interaction.
However, if designed carefully with the learner and measureable learning objectives in mind, e-Learning can be a rich and rewarding learning experience.
